The Feierabend show assembles works by Matthias Dornfeld (*1960), Lin May (*1973), Lutz Braun (*1976) and HP Zimmer (1936–1992). Even though some of the works are three dimensional, and use material other than pen and paper, the show as such is focused on drawing. All the works share a common element: They are all intensely concerned with figuration despite the fact their approaches are very different. In the oeuvre of HP Zimmer, co-founder of the SPUR group, he repeatedly discusses the relationship between abstraction and figuration. In the works of the younger artists in the show it becomes visible how deeply they are engaged with the question of how to depict animals or human beings. Besides some darker aspects one can always recognize a strong love for life itself, celebrating very existential moments.
The title Feierabend stems from a drawing by HP Zimmer from 1969 that will be part of the exhibition.
